The Seventh Veil
Charles Felix Perry: Annette Perry’s son by her brother Neil. Lord Whitby’s grandson. Reprobate drug addict and enthusiastic bisexual. Most notorious bastard in Etsey.
Jonathan Augustus Perry: Charles’s older brother; Lord Whitby’s grandson. Etsian soldier and memberof the Death Unit; heir to the Perry and Whitby Houses. Left the country years ago due to scandal over the death of his father and a young lady in Rothborne parish.
Timothy Fielding/Raturjula Naike: Jonathan’s equerry and best friend; former 3rd lieutenant of Etsian Army and special agent in Death Unit; Catalian, former court concubine and gutter boy. Nicknamed “Tuja.”
Madeline Elliott: The moor witch’s (the Morgan, recently deceased) Apprentice; Jonathan’s former lover. Sole survivor of the House of Elliott.
Emily Elliott: Madeline’s half sister (by her mother) and assistant.
Stephen Perry: Jonathan and Charles’s younger brother; he was raised separately from his elder brothers by his mother.
Alan Lennox: Rothborne magistrate’s son/acting magistrate; Emily’s former lover. Something of a callous ass.
Martin Smith: Practical alchemist who practices the little known art of sex magic.
Lord Whitby, Augustus Octavian Perry: Jonathan, Stephen, and Charles’s grandfather, head of the Houses of Perry and Whitby. Influential member of the Aristocratic Parliament.
Neil Perry: Eldest son of Augustus Perry, known in his lifetime to be quite mad. His rape of his sister is proven fact; that he killed his two younger brothers is suspected but not verified. For the latter part of his life he was confined to an abbey in the north where he was allowed to indulge in his depravity in relative safety, supplied with victims quietly by his father. He was murdered by his eldest son, Jonathan, when he was discovered mid-torture of Andrea Carlton.
The Morgan: The moor witch serving Rothborne parish; Madeline’s mentor.
Andrea Carlton: Somewhat wild and unschooled only child of Henry Carlton and last of her house; she was killed by Jonathan out of pity once he saw how she suffered at his father’s hand.
Hamilton Elliott: Madeline’s father. A discontented impoverished nobleman obsessed with House lore, he committed suicide for reasons not known to those who survived him.
Annette Perry: Augustus’s only daughter and Charles’s mother; she died at a young age, ten years after giving birth to her son, under mysterious circumstances which are widely believed to have been suicide.
